Sustainable packaging: the next commitments for Italy

Nowadays, the impact of packaging as a byproduct of the food industry fortunately has become a topic of much discussion when we discuss the ecological footprint of food chains. However, at the same time reducing the use of packaging in the production and distribution of food is not easy.

Between 2014 and 2015, Italy will play an important role in the debate on the sustainability of packaging systems: first, at the end of the current year will end a three-year project in which our country is a partner; furthermore, packaging should be one of the hottest topics of Expo 2015. The exhibition coincides with another international fair dedicated to the packaging industry: the IPACK-IMA trade fair.

Alcol e droghe: nella preistoria servivano per comunicare

Poco dopo la metà del XIX secolo, per Charles Baudelaire la droga nel suo tempo apparteneva “alla classe delle gioie solitarie”, fatta “per i miserabili oziosi”.

Un modo dunque per estraniarsi dalla realtà, godere edonisticamente dei viaggi che essa è in grado, nel migliore dei casi, di regalare.

Sembra però che a differenza dell’uomo moderno e poi contemporaneo, i popoli preistorici che abitavano la regione europea millenni prima di Baudelaire, facessero anch’essi uso di droghe, ma non semplicemente per il loro piacere edonistico. Alcol e droghe vegetali, come papaveri da oppio e funghi allucinogeni andò di pari passo con il sistema di credenze e rituali di sepoltura sacri di molte società del passato, in particolare per favorire la comunicazione tra mondo terreno e universo spirituale. Questo è quello che emerge da uno studio condotto daElisa Guerra Doce, una ricercatrice di stanza all’ Universidad de Valladolid, in Spagna, sul Journal of Archaeological Method and Theory.
